Featured Person From Cleveland - Jarvis Gibson, Sr., Football Coach and Founder of the JG Foundation
Jarvis Gibson is the new head Football Coach of Cleveland’s John Adams College & Career Academy. He is also the founder and chair of the Jarvis Gibson Foundation, an organization which supports the youth of Cleveland, Ohio and the surrounding area by “providing educational opportunities for underserved youth who lack the social, emotional, and financial support needed to achieve future success.” During our interview, we discussed his upbringing in Cleveland, Ohio, from the Longwood Estates to his graduation from Case Western Reserve University, and his careers as an engineer and high school football coach. He explains the motivation behind the Jarvis Gibson Foundation and its programs. Jarvis shares what helped him through an extremely tough medical diagnosis. He also offers advice for coaching and shares his views on ways we can help today’s youth choose the pathway to success. I wanted to introduce you all to Jarvis because he is doing some great work for his community and I think he’s dope!
